Health Disorders of Smoking #5

What is smoking? What harmful effects do this kind of activity contributes to human health? This are the questions needed to be consider before a person starts smoking.

Smoking increases the risk of chronic bronchitis, lung cancer, emphysema and affects development of offspring in pregnant women. Smoking was considered to be a sophisticated and manly habit. Cigarette smoke contains chemicals that are harmful to body such as nicotine which is highly addictive. Diseases caused by smoking kills more than 430,000 people each year.

Smoking causes chronic bronchitis. This kind of disease results in inflammation and increased production of mucus .This is also characterized by coughing. This coughing is called as "chronic cough". This is not just a normal cough. A "chronic cough" indicates that the person's smoking activity has already damaged the breathing passages.

Smoking not only causes chronic bronchitis but also lung cancer. Lung cancer is an abnormal, continual multiplying of cells that can result in lumps, masses or tumors and can begin in the lining of the bronchi (large airways), or other areas of the respiratory system. This disease also has large number of deaths.

Smoking also results to emphysema. Emphysema is a progressive disease of the lungs that primarily causes shortness of breath. This disease also called an obstructive lung disease because the destruction of lung tissue around smaller sacs, called alveoli, makes the air sacs unable to hold their functional shape upon exhalation. Emphysema cannot be cured or reversed, but it can be slowed down especially when the person stops smoking.

Smoking on the other hand affects development of offspring in pregnant women. Because nicotine is so addictive, many mom's find it difficult to quit. Pregnant women who smoke risk the lives and health of their offspring. Babies who were breast fed by their mother who smoke also gets unwanted symptoms like shorter sleep times, rapid heartbeat ,etc.

Therefore, before deciding to start smoking, think twice whether to pursue this kind of activity or you will suffer the consequences made by your own decision.

Just a Dream by Faidha P. Macalabo #4

The music and music video "Just a Dream" is nice, though it's also a sad one. For me, the song has something to tell about the girl in his life. He regret the important things that he wasn't able to do before the girl was gone.

That's why in life, there's a saying that "time is gold". You should do all the things that you have to do before it's too late and don't waste time. Cherish all the good memories with your love ones.

Not all things stays the same. There has to be challenges we need to passed. There's always happiness after all the sad things happened.

At the Beginning- Richard Marx and Donna Lewis #3

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DP6kPVvIEC0

What is music? Does it really affect an individual's mood? For me, yes. music for me is a temporary get away to forget once in awhile a problem. Every time I'm down, all I want to do is to sing.

The music AT THE BEGINNING by Richard Marx and Donna Lewis from the cartoon movie ANASTACIA became one of my inspirational songs. I had it listened once, but it touched my heart. Not because I like the movie, but because I love the meaning behind the song. The lyrics talks about, that we people are just only strangers in this big and complicated world. But as our journey goes on, we'll really find someone whom we can rely on. It also talks about LIFE. Life is full of challenges that we have pass. And these challenges makes life more meaningful. Though these challenges can be a hindrance to one's success, this can also make an individual a better person. We can't pass these challenges if we won't help each other.
